A new way to understand Jesus and how He wanted the Church (ekklēsia) to believe and do.
Many understand Jesus through our human understanding, by what humans have taught us, but with the wisdom of the Holy Spirit, we gain a deeper understanding.
Throughout this teaching and everything we read in scripture, we must understand that everything is about Jesus. What He did was in service to His mission.
In this study, we aim to uncover who Jesus is, thereby enabling us to understand Him more deeply through Scripture. Trust me, our human understanding will never fully comprehend the Godhead, but the Holy Spirit will lead us in the right direction.
We find an elementary description of Him in John 1:1-2, or is it an elementary description, but what does John 1:1-2 truly mean? This scripture is difficult to comprehend, isn’t it?
John 1:1–2 (NIV)
The Word Became Flesh
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was with God in the beginning.
Let’s break it all down.
Verse 1 says that in the beginning was the Word.
Word is the Greek word, lógos; a masculine noun from légō, to speak intelligently. Word, as uttered by the living voice, a speaking, speech, utterance.
The word’s root is also the origin of English words like “logic” and the “-ology” suffix, meaning “the study of”. In Christian theology, Logos is a title used for Jesus Christ, representing the “Word” of God.
John 1:1 (NIV)
The Word Became Flesh
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Here is where it becomes illogical. In the beginning was the Word, the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
We will start with the English word “beginning”.
Beginning is the Greek word archē. Pronounced, ar-khay. Christ is called “the beginning” because He is the efficient cause of the creation; “the head” because He is before all things, and all things were created by Him and for Him. Archḗ means the beginning of something, as the beginning of a line, road, and so forth.
Archḗ does not mean the beginning of God but the beginning of our existence, everything we see.
The Word.
The best way to explain this is with my voice; I am speaking words. They are my words. You can’t see them, but you can hear them. This is why it says the Word was with God, just like my words are with me, so my words are me.
Explaining this teaching to you is poured out from my spirit, mind, will, and emotions through my mouth.
God the Father, through his Word, Jesus, created everything.
Now, here is where it becomes illogical. God put flesh on His words and placed them inside Mary. Just like if I were able to put flesh on my words. Today’s AI is capable of doing this without the generated AI being flesh and blood. A tremendous feat of the wisdom of God.
